Palm Flower

One of my indoor palms gets this flower every year. I was playing with the macro setting on my camera this evening. Think I should have actually taken the flower off the palm to get a better effect.

Bearded Iris

Can't resist posting this photo too. I've never seen an iris this colour before. The previous owners planted masses of irises and last year they never flowered because I moved them all and split them, so it's the first time I've seen it.

Gardening with mom

Bradley and I went to the nursery today. When we came home, he helped plant the carrots (hopefully they grow - in the one photo you can see him empty the entire packet in one spot), coriander and parsley.

Afternoon braai

We had a braai this afternoon at Marlise's house. I have really struggled to pick one photo - mostly because I'm not sure about how everyone feels about their kids photos being on my blog. So I decided to email the photos to them rather, and to post the one that is most obscure (so the photo on this post might just change :) ).

I often get flowers when I get to my mom's house in the evening to pick up the boys. Tonight I got 2 flowers! ... OK, one was actually for daddy.

Rural Ruin no 2

We went to visit MIL in Parys today. This ruin is one of the many deserted farm houses on the side of the highway (I took the pic from the moving car).
This is typical of deserted houses in South Africa - all the possible building materials that can be used again are removed from the houses, leaving very stark ruins.

Shaun and Juretha's wedding

We went to a wedding today, and I forgot to take my camera! How daft is that? So all I have to take a pic of today are the gifts and cards we got at the wedding.
I was so angry with myself because I saw many photo opportunities at the wedding that the photographer didn't see.

Two-headed Dinosaur

I have finally managed to grow this small reed in my garden. I tried growing it twice in our previous house, but I wasn't very successful. I've planted this one in a small bed next to the pool.

Farmyard

We went to a party today at a "farmyard" party venue. Couldn't resist taking some pics of the animals.

Nikita

Nikita is a Russian Bashkir Curly. The last horse of this breed in SA. She's very old, as you can see by the grey hair above her eyes.
She's a very gentle horse, so she's perfect to teach the small kids at the riding school.
