I took this photo on a road in Hurlingham on the way home from Sandton this evening. I love this street; I take this route to work most mornings now, but it's blocked off in the afternoons and they only allow residents on it then (which is why there is no traffic in the photo). The security guard thought it was very funny that I just wanted to take a photo of the road, so he let me through the barrier.

Oh! I do miss the jacarandas, being raised part of my life in Pretoria. My dad (english speaking, btw) is born in October and used to crack me up by telling me that October (due to the jacarandas) was the "moiste, moiste maand"!
He was right about that! It is the "mooiste" month :)
Those are just gorgeous. Beautiful photo.
those are lovely! what a pity they're not going to be around forever.
Nice photo Jenty. I lived in Pretoria many years ago and just love the sight of Jacarandas in full bloom. We have a few in our neighbourhood, but they are not the same as those in your area
Oh I would drive out of my way to take this every day!
it looks beautiful!
Oh that is beautiful....I love that. I must say I love riding through Johannesburg and Pretoria...we don't have that here.
It is a lovely site, I am going to miss them!!!
Stunning photo Jeanette...definately one you will cherish when the site of Jacaranda's do dissapear one day.
They look too beautiful to be invasive! Great photo!
What a beautiful street
Wow that bring back memories of my years in Pretoria. They are spectacular trees.
Awesome photo! I haven't seen anything comparable here in the US yet.
This is great, takes me back to my childhood in Harare (yes, a LOOONG way back!) where the sreets also look like this in October. I also love the purple carpet on the streets when the flowers start to drop, and the subtle sweet honey perfume in the air....
