Long eyelashes

Why is it, that boys always seem to have longer eyelashes than girls do? This is A, Madi's son. I took this today at a mom's meet/playdate.

Pointing with a "haaa haaa"

When Connor hears birds, he tries to find them in the sky. As soon as he find where they are, he points and says "haaa haaa".

And the arm that pointing in the shot... that's the same collarbone that broke. I took him for more x-rays today... it's healing, but it's very skew... the bones are fusing but there is a bit that's sticking out. I've got to take him back to the doctor in January and hopefully the bump would have flattened out.

Blue-eyed baby

Hee hee, he looks like an owl. He was crawling towards me and trying to grab the camera.
He's such a cutie!

Boys and their toys

I went Christmas shopping at Sandton City today. This car was parked in the banking mall, and was swamped by guys. LOL! There was no way I was going to get a photo of the car on it's own.

I'm assuming it was Montoya's car at one stage, because his name is on the side of it... as well as a sticker advertising a ride in the car.

Now that would be a cool gift to give a racing nut!

The pirate ship in Fairlands

I managed to stop just at the right place in the traffic this afternoon to take this shot :).

I've heard this building being called a pirate ship, something from the Transformers, and a monstrosity, amongst other names... but it is in fact the new head office for FNB Home Loans and Wesbank which is being built in Fairlands.

I can't begin to describe how HUGE this building is. It sticks out like a sore thumb in the residential area it's built in, plus the colours are damn ugly to make it worse! You can see the stripey effect on the left of the photo... and to make it worse, on the other side of the building the multi-colour stripes are horizontal.

However, credit must be given to them for building what is said to be a very environmentally friendly building. It uses storm water and condensation from the air conditioners for irrigation. The power supply is automated and senses when people have left a room. And amongst other things, it is also partly solar powered and there are sun screens along the sides of the building (which you can just see in the photo - they look like gills) to minimise glare and heat gain in the building.

The proof is in the pudding however, and with the power shortages currently being experienced in the country, it will be interesting what kind of pull of power this building will have in the area once it's finally finished.

My elves

In the spirit of Christmas, I took loads of photos of the boys with their Xmas hats on today. These are my favourites. It was very difficult to keep Connor still!

Christmas tree

Bradley and I put the Christmas tree up this afternoon. I've also included photos of my favourite tree baubles, and most of them have a story behind them.

Firstly, the fairy at the top of the tree is magic. In our house, the fairy tells Father Christmas whether Bradley has been good. In fact, she's so magic, that she can see whether he's been naughty right throughout the year even though she's packed away in a box on top of a cupboard.

Then, the next 3 are my annual special purchases. I buy a new nice decoration for the tree every year. The angel is one of 3 that were bought last year from Woolies. The Father Christmas bell was bought 2 years ago from the Teddy Bear shop in Clearwater Mall - he's very heavy and has to rest on some branches. The Father Christmas on the moon is this years purchase from Woolies.
