There were rolling backouts in Joburg today due to "load shedding" (Eskom's way to try and stop people using electricity - bizarre but true!). So we joined Madi, Marlise and their families at the local Spur for supper (they have a generator and a cool play area for the kids).
This isn't exactly the most riviting photo I've ever taken, so I tried a trick with the colours.

Aaaarrrggg, We got caught in the load shedding too. It infuriates me no end...and they did it over rush hour so it took poor Daryn ages to get home.
At least it's a good excuse to go out for dinner!
Oh well - at least you made it exciting! LOL
How long did it take you to get home?
It looks like a eerie commercial. I like it.
And what the heck is wrong with the electrical companies? They must be selling their power to someone else for more during certain times.

Sarah, it didn't take me much longer than normal to get home :)
Oswegan, apparently they haven't catered for growth, so now when one of the power stations has a problem there's a country-wide shortage and they just randomly cut power to areas of the city for 2 hours at a time.
Hope your dinner was good. I have a feeling the kiddies love Eskom. They get to play with candles, eat take out and go to Spur! ;)
I think its a very unusual pic! yar we got stuck in the 'load shedding' too! as soon as we got home about 8pm it went off ARRRGGGHHHH
It worked!! cool atmosphere in the pic. The escom story, well, what can one do but shake ones head in amazement?
I like what you did with the colours Jeanette
We were also without power last night...the only place we found that had a generator was Monte Casino - only thing was the generator was only big enough to light the passages so all the shops were closed anyway. It's such a pain!
