I love the 70-300mm Sigma lens! I've finally been able to get a good shot of the pair of Louries that nest next door. They were both feeding on an orange berry creeper that hangs over our wall when I got the shot. It's just a pity you can't see the crest on their heads in the photo.
Louries are also known as "go-away" birds because their call sounds like they're saying "go-'way go'way" - and that's a much easier name to teach kids about what the birds are called.

Birdlife in my garden today
We have so many birds that come to our garden now, especially now that I regularly replenish the feeder. I tried so hard to get close to a hoepoe to take a photo, but Bradley made too much noise and he flew away.
I've noticed this Glossy Starling quite a lot in the last few weeks. It's one of a pair nesting in a tree in my neighbours garden, and they spend a lot of time in my garden.

And then, excitement!! This afternoon, this stork flew over the garden and landed on another neighbours roof. Beautiful! At least, I think's it some type of stork... it can't be a crane as it doesn't have all the features.

edited: It's a grey heron! LOL! I think I need a bird book or something, my knowledge about birds is scary to say the least! Thanks Max and mom ;)

Bird Feeder
I got a birdfeeder from my parents for my birthday. Within 10 minutes of putting it on the garden wall and filling it with food, the birds had found it. Within a few days, Red Headed Finches started coming for food - you can see them in this pic. I'm going to try get closer to get a good pic of them.

I thought I was very clever asking my mom to get me a self-feeding bird tray. I don't have the time to go out every morning and fill it with seeds. So much for that, the birds just eat until it's gone. I've gone through a bag of birdseed in ONE week!
