Grey Louries

I love the 70-300mm Sigma lens! I've finally been able to get a good shot of the pair of Louries that nest next door. They were both feeding on an orange berry creeper that hangs over our wall when I got the shot. It's just a pity you can't see the crest on their heads in the photo.

Grey Lourie

Louries are also known as "go-away" birds because their call sounds like they're saying "go-'way go'way" - and that's a much easier name to teach kids about what the birds are called.

Ah, a telephoto is next on my list. The shot is beautiful Jenty! So is the glass extremely heavy?

You are so lucky. I really miss not seeing these birds this far south. When I still a little guy on a farm near Bella Bella - when it was still Warmbaths, we called them kwevoels - I think it is more descriptine than Lourie.
