Happy 90th birthday Madiba

PROJECT BLACK : TAKE NINE

I've posted this photo of the Mandela statue in Mandela Square in Sandton before, but I thought that in honour of this great man's birthday and the fact that I like it in B&W, that I would post it again.

It's also my Dad's birthday today, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY Dad! If I'd got to your house earlier, I would've taken a photo of you! Enjoy dinner with mom tonight ;)

Old black nose

PROJECT BLACK : TAKE EIGHT

Old labrador

This is Robbie, I haven't taken photos of him in a very long time. He's my parent's labrador. He's such a stunning dog who'd love to think he was still a puppy, but he can't run that much anymore because of his hip problems, and this winter he's really been struggling to walk in the mornings.

Anna's blog has more Project Black participants... why don't you join in too?

PROJECT BLACK :  TAKE SEVEN
Chinese silk print
My mom has this gorgeous silk screen hanging on one of her walls. My dad bought it in China when he went there on business last year. The detail in it is just magnificent.

As the sun sets

PROJECT BLACK : TAKE SIX

I love the way the landscape goes black when you take sunset photos, even though it's not that dark just looking around.
As the sun sets

I took this photo a few evenings ago. I did actually take photos today, but I don't like them ;)

PROJECT BLACK : TAKE FIVE
Poor Elaine didn't have a choice when I noticed that she was wearing black today, she just had to be my model.

Smokey haze

PROJECT BLACK : TAKE FOUR

We drove to Parys in the Freestate today to visit MIL (it's about 1 1/2 hours drive from Johannesburg). These are very typical scenes during winter in these parts. It's VERY dry at the moment, so the veld (open grass) is very flammable.

Black and White feathers

PROJECT BLACK : TAKE THREE

This is a guineafowl feather from Bradley's collection of feathers. He's always collected arb feathers since he was tiny and they're kept in a silver container in his room. I thought the black and white of his favourite find was perfect for the project. I've posted some pics of the actual bird before.

PROJECT BLACK : TAKE TWO

Bradley was building a Lego car when I got to my mom's house this evening. He's only recently discovered it again, and is hooked!
