Hermanus

photohuntersbz9

The theme for Photohunt today was Clouds. This the best shot of clouds that I got today, isn't it a magnificent photo of Hermanus!?
We went there today to visit my grandparents (yip, all the way from Johannesburg, just for one day!). I'll show you more photos tomorrow, not now, I'm too tired :)

Remnants of a rose

The sky was so blue today, so I tried to do something different and lay on the grass under the remnants of an old rose, and took a photo from underneath it. I quite like the effect!

Art

THREE CORNERS - JULY
I chose Art as the theme this month.  I had such grand ideas of taking some shots of true African art, but I ran out of time.  LOL!  So, instead, here are 3 shots of different types of art that I see around me most days.

I took this one at the beginning of the month. It's by far the best piece of graffiti around here. I think it's incredible.
I took it in an open piece of ground between Darrenwood and Linden in Johannesburg.

I posted something similar a few days ago, but I just love these massive chess pieces. They're about thigh height, on a massive chess board at Misty Hills hotel in Muldersdrift

And then I couldn't resist taking these photos of Bradley tonight. He made this clown suit out of paper and cardboard at school today. I love all his artwork that he brings home!

The whirlwind that is a toddler with a new wheelbarrow

New Wheelbarrow
I love the motion in this photo.  I've never got this right before... having the subject in focus (well, kind of) but the background a complete blur.

Macro of an iris

I finally played with the remote switch that I've borrowed from Tanya.  It made quite a difference with the macro shots, but I found that the lens still shook slightly... it might be the tripod that's not sturdy enough.

It's been such a mild winter, that the garden is starting to bloom already. It's so nice to see colour in the garden again... but I'm sure we'll have another really cold spell... it's too early for Spring.

Feel the love

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

I left work early today and popped in at Marlise's house for a glass of wine (or two) quick playdate . I had a ball taking photos of Tanya and her brood again.  Tanya is going back to work next friday, and is really enjoying the last few full days with Saige.  It's the worst thing in the world having to go back to work, and leaving your baby in the care of someone else... hope they all adjust quickly.

...and Lemon (Tanya's older daughter) was only too happy to pose for me too, it was her birthday today.

Reading a story

I started reading a book with Connor tonight, but he decided that he could do a better job on his own :)
